Cars, Water And Oil:

I’m leaving yesterdays post up again today. This coming week I will be writing on some very interesting and important subjects. Be thinking about the subjects that you would like to see included in this blog and I’ll do my best to include them.

As you read this blog (thanks) is it just me, or is Middle America getting the same treatment as American Indians? Hmmmm. See ya right here for more Simple New.

P.S. jump in and comment, I want your input. Now get out there and enjoy America. Mike

U.S. NEWS: This reporter is overwhelmed with news that continues to spew from every corner of the county, but we’ll start with Detroit.

“Bad Bob” Nardelli is making headlines again. You remember Bob don’t you? He was the recently liberated CEO from Home Depot who received $210 Million on his way out the door for doing a bad job.

Chrysler picked “Bad” up to run rough-shod over that outfit when it was sold to the private equity firm Cerberus Capital, about 8 months ago. Chrysler had announced earlier (before Union negotiations) that it would reduce the payroll by 13,000 this coming year. Most of those liberated (that’s a nice word for canned) would be offered early retirement.

Now, just days after coming to an agreement with the Union for a new contract, Ol’ Bad has announced that he will invite 12,000 more formerly employed folks to join the festivities at the retirement party.

If I’m doing the math properly, that’s 25,000 people that used to be working that aren’t going to be partaking in that particular activity in the very near future. This news was not well received by the Union.

Ford Motor Company, the last of the former Big-3, is presently negotiating with the union and is mad as heck at “Bad Bob.” One official said, “No question this [Chrysler’s job cut announcement] is going to make things tougher.” I’d say that was an accurate statement. What really put a burr under Ford’s blanket was; that was their plan.

An undisclosed source has said that “Bad Bobs” comment to Ford is, “I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money, and personally, I’d say I didn’t do too bad at Home Depot.”

The offsetting good news is that October job growth was reported today as 166,000 jobs pm the plus side. Breaking that down, 85,000 were added to Hillary Clinton’s campaign staff and Rudy Giuliani picked up the balance.

In other news, Orme Tennessee has run out of water. This small town of 150 people have been caught in a drought that has seen their only source of water dry up. They are presently hauling water in a 40 year old fire truck and turning it on for only three hours per day.

Orme Mayor, Tony Reames, in his heavy Tennessee accent says, “Atlanta and Charlotte can’t carry enough water. People better open their eyes and start conserving.” This statement alone makes Mr. Reames smarter than 99% of our politicians who promise that if they are elected, we will see our economy grow for all time. . . and use a whole lot more water for all time.

Speaking of using things, oil today has settled in at $93.90 per barrel. King of Simple News is getting up a posse to try and apprehend those analysts who predicted oil would fall back in the $45 range.

The problem with oil is the same problem we have with water; all the back stock we have is what came with this planet. So the next time you hear your favorite politician promise more growth and more consumption of water and oil, do me a favor, change the channel.

Stay tuned for more up to date “Broken News.”
