As I listen to the ongoing debate for a presidential election nearly a year in the future, I can’t help but think that most people are missing the big point; America’s economy is sinking out of sight.

Our politicians aren’t missing that point to be sure; they are purposely avoiding it like the plague. How could they possibly miss such news as the fact that some 3 Million people have lost their jobs in manufacturing since 1998? Or that the #1 job in America is that of a sales clerk, #2, a cashier. Or that agriculture has risen to such scale per farmer, that less than 2% of the population is directly involved?

Yet, manufacturing and broad spread agriculture are not only what this county was built on; they are the only semi-sustainable economic basis that exists.

The answer from our politicians? Let’s take Joe Biden’s idea of extending government paid education to 16 years. Mr. Biden views this bold move as preparing our youth for the jobs of the future. What future Mr. Biden? A future in the largest debtor nation on earth with our youth trying to pay the bills that you refused to address during your 35 years in government?

To begin with, we don’t have 16 years, or four years, or even two years. We have a genuine crisis right now. Secondly, what are we going to accomplish? An MTC (Masters in Trash Collectomy)?

While 35 years in government service receiving high pay without having to incur work or accountability would tend to lead one to the conclusion that it is possible to live such a lifestyle; the reality of the situation is that someone had to work and get dirty to pay for that privileged existence. But then, those are just disposable Middle American workers.

Hillary Clinton’s plan? Save social security, free medical care for one and all, free education, jobs a plenty for the taking; a virtual utopia. Not a fiscal reality to be sure, but politicians don’t live in reality, they live in Washington.

The Republicans? “Rapid Rudy” is running on the fear ticket. “Who will protect you if not Rudy?” Hell, I’m more afraid of Rudy and the gang than I am of our enemies.

What was our forefathers greatest fear? Yeah, government. Abusive government.

We are the world’s largest debtor nation. The U.S. went broke in 1971 when the gold window was closed (we went off the gold standard) due to insufficient reserves to cover the currency that had been printed.

The total debt of the U.S., both private and public, is greater than $62 Trillion. A Trillion seconds was 32,000 years ago!

This debt cannot be paid by our children or their children. Growth of the magnitude to fund such debt would require an average of 10% economic growth per year, for 75 consecutive years.

Which politician has told you that? David Walker, Chief Comptroller General of the U.S. has given us this information, that’s his job. But which Presidential candidate reported these numbers to you? Congressman Ron Paul.

Is Ron Paul’s message a happy one that promises free everything from now to eternity? Nope. But then, he would have to lie to tell you that one, and he doesn’t appear to be liar. What he does promise is hope for America’s Middle Class.

There is no easy way out of the mess that we are in. It’s real, it’s serious and it must be addressed; real soon.

Wake up Middle America; this is your final boarding call.
