New Record Low; And It’s Not the Economy:
Good Morning
I did my man on the street interviews yesterday to see what the good citizens were thinking. I hit up several businesses and talked to the owners and some of the patrons regarding the direction that they see the country going.
The answer was short and sweet; “downhill.” Businesses are off their norm from 9% to 50%, depending on the nature of the business. And, here is
Humans are a mess. I remember my dad having a pet description of a person who he felt wasn’t too bright. He would say, “When they were passing out brains, he thought they said trains and he wasn’t going anywhere.” I suppose I just didn’t realize in the blissful ignorance of my youth that dad was talking about most humans.
Like the mining and drilling in Western Colorado, we as humans will strip the planet of every possible natural resource as soon as we possibly can. What other course do we have when we elect the politicians that promise the most growth? We will utilize every square inch of soil for food production, drain the last flowing river, and when it can no longer be sustained, we will in all good conscious…wonder what the heck happened.
I don’t think we can count on congress pulling us out of this, at least not this congress. Ya see, our illustrious congress, the same self described “hardest working congress ever” that promised it would end the war and and straighten up the entire country if we would be kind enough to elect them rather than reelect the bumbling Republican’s that they replaced; just set a new record. For the first time in history, the acceptance rating of congress has dropped to single digits.
Imagine how low they may have gone should they have had a Democratic president that went along with all of their whacky ideas? I’m thinking about as low as the Republicans that they replaced. What a sterling example this is of the insanity of party division and the process that we call elections.
Congress at this point and time is helpless to make any substantial changes until such time that they trot out the truth and that ain’t gonna happen for two reasons. One, as soon as any one of them even whispered at the truth, we would throw them out of office for telling us things that we don’t want to know, and two, they a
So ya see, the chickens have come home to roost. It really is the American publics fault. Any politician that tells us anything that we don’t want to hear is on the way out the door. And since we don’t want to hear the truth (that growth really isn’t good,) the liars will remain the leaders.
Wake up

This quote is an old example of what you just relayed to us. -bb
“With the enemy’s approach to Moscow, the Moscovites’ view of their situation did not grow more serious but on the contrary became even more frivolous, as always happens with people who see a great danger approaching.
At the approach of danger there are always two voices that speak with equal power in the human soul: one very reasonably tells a man to consider the nature of the danger and the means of escaping it; the other, still more reasonably, says that it is too depressing and painful to think of the danger, since it is not in man’s power to foresee everything and avert the general course of events, and it is therefore better to disregard what is painful till it comes, and to think about what is pleasant.”
Leo Tolstoy, “War and Peace”
BillyB,
I suppose that about wraps it up. While we complain about the government, we elect the one that provides us with the most pleasant thoughts, promises us the most personal gain, and expects the least in return.
Like the diet that promises to allow you to eat anything that want, no painful exercise involved, just take a pill, watch TV and the pounds will fall off. It doesn’t work, but then neither does congress.
I know for a fact, that what you posted today is fact. I have been preaching this for some time now. But I also believe that people are in such denial (mostly due to their ignorance of most everything except American Idol & Deal or No Deal) that they do not see the connection with themselves; they do not believe that if they try to do right every time that eventually right will win. The Clintons really put a reality cape on this crusader, with more lies than I ever thought existed on planet earth winning more people (American citizens) over than all of the truths told for generations prior to that. We need to peel away the bottom of that proverbial barrel to see the depths we as a nation have sunk. We will make the fall of Rome look like a walk in the park beforre this one is played out.
Gila,
The key is to keep our society from sliding all the way to the bottom. If it does, as you suggest, things will get a little dicey around the neighborhood.
I read the articles with interest about tactics for survival when the whole shebang goes south. Growing a little garden, burning wood for heat, having a food supply in the pantry and defending ones property from the bad guys and girls.
These are good ideas to be sure and a little preparation should be mandatory. If the roads became impassable from a storm, or the power is out for an extended period of time, having some backup only makes sense.
However, believing that a person could go from our modern society to a survivalist in one fell swoop, isn’t realistic.
Even now, the police are no longer in control of many cities, the gangs are. Imagine what would happen if we became engaged in economic collapse?
Nope, the key is pressure our leaders to take the drastic steps necessary to keep that collapse from occurring.
Although he does not cover the primary core issues in his article. This gentleman does address one of them and some issues directly above the core issues that the politicians fail, intentionally, to discuss in the course of their campaigns. And as you can see, the logic is the same as what the King of Simple has explained above.
